ROL hint at new RO4 powered machines

Posted by Andrew Duffell on 07:38, 9/5/2005 | , , , , ,

RISCOS Ltd have got in touch with some hints about forthcoming machines at the WROCC Wakefield Show.

cogiconIn a press release explaining that RISCOS Ltd will be close from May 13th to June 6th for Holiday, Paul Middleton noted "RISCOS Ltd are sorry that they are not able to be present at the Wakefield Show but we hope that there will be at least two surprise new items featuring RISC OS 4 at the show."

Rumours suggest that one of these products could be the A9 Home, and the other a Virtual Risc PC solution.

APDL will be selling RISCOS Ltd products at the Wakefield Show.

So that's one piece of hardware that is meaningful to RISC OS's future then and one for the profit margin :-(

Don't quite see your point there Andrew.
Cheers!

I thought that the A9 was hardware designed for RISC OS whereas VRPC solution referred to VRPC being made to work on PC hardware.

If the assumption here are correct then we appear to have two offerings to confirm the future of RISC OS: one being a new native RISC OS machine and the other offering RISC OS to those who also need to use Windows. Both will support software development and both keep people in the RISC OS community.
It would be a tragedy if all we had was the virtual route but if there is to be a continuing native option as well - I'm happy.
All "if" of course. I'm making for Wakefield to be the first to see what ROL really are talking about!
