The Icon Bar: News and features: Mysterious new product to be announced at London Show

| RISC OS, Shows
Lots of announcements have been coming in in the past few days in the run-up to this weekend's RISC OS London Show. However I think it's safe to say that the most-talked about news is that of a major new product that's due to be revealed at the show. Said to have been development by a coalition of parties for a year, details of exactly what it is or who is behind it are surprisingly stark. However some sleuths over on the RISC OS Open forums believe they have found the answer, hidden in a series of cryptic messages from R-Comp: A new computer based around the Freescale i.MX6 SoC. Could it be true, or is there another? With only a couple of days left until the show, I guess we don't have too long left to find out.

Perhaps I'm lucky with my board, but it's fine at 2048x1280x60Hz, or 2048x1536x52Hz for 4:3 aspect ratio. Yay, it now has a permanent connection to my main monitor - Dell 30" which can do those resolutions - as well as the 22" screen, via an external HDMI splitter (mirroring). The main point being to use the lovely big screen, via a digital connection which is a good deal sharper/easier to read than the same resolution on the IYONIX pc because that has to go via VGA. I /must/ get around to investigating DVI-D line drivers! |

Just a hint/nudge/reminder that if you're looking to run a hi-res monitor via DVI-D, y'all will very likely need a *Dual Link* DVI-D cable. The common-or-garden single link cables can't handle much more than full HD-ish and the display will start throwing a wobbly above that. Dual link (or HDMI adaptor) cables are only a few quid. HTH.

Alex Hamilton I am aware of that, but thank you. |

However, it sounds like we've still got work to do to make it more prominent/visible/useful Still no mention of it on the R-Comp site. So RISC OS.
Well not quite true, but as it's 11 months on, could you perhaps remove the "Full ARMX6 (i.MX6) info will be added shortly. Get the London show leaflet PDF now..." banner that's on every page, as it appears you've now actually added info to the "Details" and "Purchase" pages.
Whilst you're there could you also
* Mention the ARMX6 somewhere on the frontpage of the armini website * Mention on the Purchase page if the ARMX6 is actually for sale yet? * Remove the ARMini content from the frontpage of the website, as it appears you no longer sell it (according to Purchase)
Not that I'm about to buy one, but your web presence is really not useful to anyone that might actually want one. So RISC OS. |

Still no mention of it on the R-Comp site. Well not quite true Or completely untrue as it is more accurately known!
but as it's 11 months on, could you perhaps remove the "Full ARMX6 (i.MX6) info will be added shortly. Get the London show leaflet PDF now..." banner that's on every page But that is a bit rubbish and needs fixing.
Mention the ARMX6 somewhere on the frontpage of the armini website And that.
For what it's worth, here's Andrew's justification for the lack of advertising: https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/forums/5/topics/3115?page=2#posts-46598
So RISC OS. Yeah, because no one outside the RISC OS market has ever had an out of date website. Particularly not those one-man-band companies, they're always bang up to date. |
