The Icon Bar: News and features: New bounty scheme launched

New bounty scheme launched

Posted by Jeffrey Lee on 23:00, 31/3/2011 | , , , ,

As you know, over the past few years there's been a general downturn in the number of articles appearing on The Icon Bar. In response to pressure from our readers, we've come up with a radical new stimulus package designed to combat this issue. Starting today, the author of any new article posted on the site will be rewarded with a bounty, which they will receive within 10 working days of the article going live. For full details about the different bounties that can be awarded to each article, please see our sponsor's site. Don't delay; submit your article today! *

* Terms and conditions apply.

Yes ("Abort on data transfer at, oh, about 12 noon.") and yes, in its original context, for the time being.

I know it looks like we copied this idea, but we really didn't know about this article until I just came across it this evening... Anyway, the Bounty bars we were giving away seemed to be pretty popular in the end. smile

Considering the bounties section on the ROOL website was added before this article went up, it wouldn't be possible for you to have copied it. Of course, it's possible the Icon Bar copied it from you. Maybe by some miracle the article's author was hanging around ROOL before you made the announcement. wink

Above paragraph subject to change - I'm not at the computer with Messenger installed and there's a cat on my lap precluding movement, so I don't actually know if you've made the announcement yet. Judging by your post, and indeed new account, I'd say probably.

You missed the talk, didn't you? Next time you could think about preparing a "This stand will be closing at [hh:mm] so I can attend the [important subject] talk" sign.

One of the problems with being an exhibitor is that it is very difficult to get away to hear talks. I have to rely on the show reports etc for that unhappy

Of course. But during the most popular talks there will be, by definition, less people around the stands. Therefore, perhaps those stands with multiple persons could spare someone during such talks if they're really determined to attend.

The show organisers could also consider providing (for an extra charge) private tented chemical toilets and medical drip-feeds!
